SCHOOL OF MUSIC - THE HONOR AND PRIVILEGE OF BEING A GOSPEL ARTISTE

Image
SCHOOL OF MUSIC : : THE HONOR AND PRIVILEGE OF BEING A GOSPEL ARTISTE.                                                                                   Some years back I stumbled on a scripture in the book of ROMANS where Paul said even though he is an apostle to the Gentiles but that he magnified his office. Paul clearly understood what a privilege it truly is to be a minister of the gospel and sincerely I believe this is the greatest of all privileges for God to trust you with the lives of men. Yes it is that serious. Your assignment here on earth has direct impact and influence on the lives of men.  Maybe you don't know this, but music directly feeds the souls of men. The nutrient in your songs will determine what the souls receive and whether they are fed with life or death. ...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC :: YOUR FIGHT IS DIFFERENT

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: YOUR FIGHT IS DIFFERENT. Thinking of the best caption for this post, I remember the very words of John Obidi "Your fight is different".  This expression could mean different things for different people but basically, it means that we all have our own demons to conquer. Recently I read a post that talks about how some pastors and artistes spend 20-50 years to get to where they are today and gain influence. The post also explained how some artistes spent years in obscurity before they gain influence and become known, that some artistes gained influence after 3rd or 4th album. I want to sincerely believe that the intent of the writing is to motivate and encourage patience which I think is fine but there's a bigger problem with this kind of reference. This kind of mentality can kill drive and destroy zeal for influence. When you are putting in your best to gain influence and you read a post that says so and so artistes spent 20 years before they blow, you mi...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - YOUR SONG LIFE MATTERS, DONT KILL IT

Dear Emerging Artistes,    Do you know that recording a song and keeping it only on your phone without promoting or having it on just one blog with 2 and half followers just so you get a link is an abuse of your song?  Your songs lives matter!! I said the life of your song matter!! Don't kill your song. I know this is common with a lot of gospel artistes and there are two basic reasons for this. The first reason is that most of you don't plan your promotion before you start recording or at least put it in mind while recording. The second reason is that most of you don't honestly know what to do and how to go about it and you are not even willing to pay for the knowledge so that someone who knows how this things work can show you the way. I hope you know that ignorance is a greater darkness sha.. A lot of artistes don't even know the power blog premiering of songs hold. Unfortunately many didn't actually get much value from the blogs they used to premiere their songs...

SSCHOOL OI MUSIC - THE CALL, THE MESSAGE AND YOUR SOUND

SCHOOL OF MUSIC : :: THE CALL, THE MESSAGE AND YOUR SOUND..                                                                                                                                                 I am currently running classes to help artiste discover or create their sounds and I feel I should share a few deep thoughts with you. I want to try as much as possible to communicate these thoughts as simple as I possibly can, because it will change your music career/ministry. If as an artiste, you can not answer with a word or a simple phrase what your message is, then you are far from ministry and especially far from music Influen...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - THE STRUGGLE FOR RELEVANCE AFTER BLOWING

SCHOOL OF MUSIC ::: THE STRUGGLE FOR RELEVANCE AFTER BLOWING Recently I have been thinking a lot about some artistes who dropped Hits back then and went extinct. Truth is that they are actually active in music but you don't get to hear them because they have no more hits. Yes many of them are releasing and promoting their songs ooooo but for where? You don't get to hear them because the songs are not blowing again. To figure out how to address the matter, we have to first know what their problem really is. The real problem is that these guys blow by accident. Accident is never an organized structure to replicate. If you blow by accident and be thinking it is grace, you will struggle for years to make another hit until you go extinct. Hit songs are created intentionally and if you don't know how this works, you are in for struggle. When Psquare broke up, I told people that Paul Rudeboy will be more relevant in music than Peter P Classic. I got to know that Rudeboy was respon...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU EITHER Few months ago I made a statement that seemed rather controversial just like the headline on this post. I said if your song needed money to blow, then it was never a hit song in the first place. A lot of people couldn't take that in and I got a lot of messages inbox to explain what I mean. It is simple, a song blows because it is a hit not because you promote well enough. The essence of promotion is not to blow a song, it is to get the song to people for it to be known. You promote so that the world will know your song, knowing your song doesn't mean the song will blow.  For a song to blow, it must be loved by many, it is the love for the song that keeps the sound in the air for a long time, not your promotion. Please read that again slowly. Understand that the purpose for promotion is for the product to be known. Whether it is liked, loved or discarded depends on the product. Some may say the package but that is only but a s...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: THE OTHER SIDE OF CONSISTENCY

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: THE OTHER SIDE OF CONSISTENCY.. Recently I was listening to some songs I received from some young artistes and I really felt that these songs have the potential to go farther, reach more people and make more impact than it has done. I even listened to two songs of this Abuja based artiste and everytime I listened to those songs, I am convinced that this song has everything it takes to go viral. I recently sent one of the songs to a friend and he told me that the song has been on repeat ever since, he asked me for the name of the artiste so he could get more of his songs. You see erhn, one of the saddest things I have seen, observed or noticed with gospel artistes especially the young ones, is the rush to drop new songs. They are in a hurry to abandon the old songs they have released and start planning and pursuing the release of a new song. Some of these songs they have abandoned and rush off to drop new songs actually hold the key to their breakthrough but because t...
